Income Planning

Turn the savings you have built into a coordinated income plan designed to support your priorities through retirement.

Overview

Why income planning matters.

For decades, much of the focus is on accumulating wealth. As retirement approaches, the question shifts: how do you turn what you have saved into reliable income — in an order and a way that supports the life you want?

We help you look at every potential source of income together — Social Security, workplace plans, personal savings and investments — and build a coordinated strategy for when and how each piece is put to work.

Retirement is not a finish line. It is a new chapter — and it deserves a plan built for it.

Key areas of focus

Where we put our attention.

Every plan is personal, but these are the areas we focus on most closely when helping clients with income planning.

01

Income mapping

We organize every income source — Social Security, pensions, retirement accounts and savings — into one view so you can see what arrives, when.

02

Withdrawal sequencing

The order in which you draw from taxable, tax-deferred and tax-free accounts can matter. We help build a sequence that fits your plan.

03

Spending & lifestyle

We start with the retirement you actually want — travel, family, hobbies, home — and plan backward from those priorities.

04

Risk & longevity

We plan for the possibility of a long retirement, rising costs and market swings, rather than assuming a single average outcome.

A good fit if you are

  • Within 10 years of retirement
  • Recently retired
  • Holding multiple 401(k)s or IRAs
  • Deciding on a pension option
  • Unsure how much you can spend

Questions we help you answer

Clarity starts with the right questions.

  1. 01When can I realistically retire — and what changes if I work a few more years?
  2. 02How much can I spend each year without worrying about running out?
  3. 03Which accounts should I draw from first?
  4. 04How do I prepare for healthcare costs before and after Medicare?
  5. 05What happens to my income plan if markets have a difficult year?

While many advisory firms require a minimum investable amount of $500,000, $1 million, or more, that is not our philosophy at CDS Wealth Management. I grew up in a hardworking, blue-collar family and genuinely enjoy working with other hardworking individuals and families who want to make smart, informed decisions with the money they've earned. While we are fortunate to work with many high-net-worth families, wealth alone has never determined who we are willing to work with. We do not have an investment minimum — our only prerequisite is that you are serious about your financial future and committed to making thoughtful, informed decisions with your money.
